There aren't words to express what you feel as you cross the finish line of the 3-Day Walk. Your sore muscles, blisters, and sunburn seem to vanish as crowds cheer you on and strangers exclaim, "Thank you for walking!"
Although that in itself is a reason to walk, I'm setting out on doing the 3-Day again for my original reasons. My Aunt Gretchen was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer back in 2004 and on November 24th, 2007 she passed away unexpectedly. In August of 2006, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer and for the past few years, the cancer had spread to her liver and other parts of her body. Despite that my mom was strong, healthy, and positive. She was actively seeking ways to help end breast cancer and raise awareness and sadly on February 9th, 2011, she also lost her fight. I have always looked up to these two women throughout my entire life but the battle in which they faced has clearly made them heroes in my eyes forever. They were both warriors against cancer and I will never stop fighting for them.

We must continue to raise awareness about breast cancer. For those who lost their battle and for those who are still fighting for their life, because everyone does deserve a lifetime.
